Summary: What Jun didn’t expect was to see the man of his dreams on his first day at his new school
Notes: this went in a completely direction that I expected but I really do hope you enjoy this reincarnation Au!
“Jun, I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.”
Jun woke up in shock from yet another another dream about him. Jun ran a hand through his hair. He didn’t understand honestly, even after all these years. For as long as he could remember he had always had these vivid dreams that seemed so real, but today was different, it felt like he was there. Most of these dreams featured the same man, who didn’t have a name as of yet. Jun wondered if this man was a real person or if he was just a figment of his own imagination. Somehow this dream was different, all the ones containing this mysterious man were happy moments, but that was the first time he saw his mystery man sad. It made Jun want to hug him and wipe those tears away. Those words kept haunting him, why was he apologizing and why was he crying? It didn’t make sense.
His death still remained a mystery as well, sometimes he wondered if his birthmark had anything to do with how he died.
Jun started his first day at his new school that day and this was just what he needed to start the day. He could never tell anyone, always afraid of what people would think. Especially after he tried to explain it to his mother and she laughed it off as his wild imagination. He turned around and looked at the clock, 5am. His dream woke him up just in time for school.
Jun's parents were transferred overseas for their job leaving Jun to fend for himself, not like it was the first time honestly. He didn’t even get a say in what he was doing, his parents decided he needed a fresh start by shipping him off to another school. Not that he could blame them, he wasn’t exactly a star student at his previous school.
-
Sometimes being a new student had its disadvantages, like not knowing anyone. Here he was sitting in a giant hall surrounded by people, sitting next someone who was being annoyingly loud playing videogames. Jun couldn’t blame him really, it was definitely one way to pass the time. Jun was bored, the principal had been speaking for a good five minutes and it was hurting his head, god would he ever shut up. He looked around and it seemed he wasn’t the only one bored out of his mind, the only teacher in sight was fast asleep in his chair. Jun tried his best to keep his eyes open, but he was struggling.
When the principal finally stopped, Jun couldn’t be more thankful, when he stepped down, a student stood up to the podium introducing himself as the student council president. When Jun could clearly see his face he froze. It couldn’t be, could it? It was just a coincidence. When he began to speak it hit Jun full on. That face, the voice he knew it and not just from his dream. His mysterious man…
“Psst new kid you ok? You're practicality shaking in your seat!” Jun felt sick to his stomach, all these memories flooding through his head. Everything confronting him at once, Jun tried to make sense of it all before everything turned black.
-
Jun woke up with a splitting headache and to an unfamiliar ceiling, he looked around without moving around to much and noticed some familiar figure around the room. If he remembered correctly one of them was the guy sitting next to him during assembly and the other was the teacher sleeping through it. He seemed to be engaged in a conversation with someone else, not really wanting to get up quite yet he kept his eyes half open deciding to have a bit of a listen in.
“Nino, what are you still doing here? I told you go to class!” Nino pouted, crossing his arms. He reminded Jun of a small child.
“But Oh-channnnn, I’m more comfortable here with you and Jun-kun! It’s not like I’d be doing anything progressive [I'm not sure what you mean by “progressive” here] in class anyway! Plus I like being with you, I wish to be with you more.” Ohno-sensei sighed in defeat grumbling about how they lived together and saw each other everyday not understanding why Nino needed to be with him every waking hour of the day.
Ohno sat down next to Nino, laying his head on his shoulder. Jun raised an eyebrow, this was an unexpected development. They had both stopped talking, having decided to take comfort in each other’s presences. Maybe now he could go back to sleep, sadly his sleep was interrupted by the door being slammed open. Jun was ready to hurt whoever decided to interrupt his sleep.
“Is Matsumoto-kun ok?” Oh THAT voice, it was Sakurai-kun, just what he needed. Well he was also Jun's mystery dream man but he wasn’t going to tell him that. Maybe he could keep pretending he was asleep so they would go away. “Ah Nino, you're here too?”
“Sho-chan it’s good to see you again too, I'm glad to see you haven’t changed. Forever the concerned student council president. Always worrying about others before yourself.”
Jun opened his eyes and Sho's ears had turned red in embarrassment, it was kinda cute.
“That happened only once, Nino.” Nino rolled his eyes. “And what about you? That time you sprained your wrist just to prove a point which you didn’t end up proving!” Jun groaned, he could feel his headache getting worse the longer they talked. Ohno seemed to have noticed his discomfort and decided to take action.
“Yes yes I think we all get the point, as someone who’s known you both since you were small, you're both stubborn and have done stupid things, now can you both calm down? This is an infirmary not a courtyard.” Nino began to loudly protest.
“Nino why do you have to be so goddamn loud, some people are trying to sleep,” Jun let out unconsciously. The other looked him with eyes wide shock on his face.
“How do you know my name? I know for sure we’ve never meet before.” Jun struggled to respond, his only response really being that it just felt right. Luckily for Jun they were interrupted.
“Alright now my patient is awake I’m going to ask you both to leave. ” Both grumbled a protest, Sho mumbled an apology before taking Nino out with him.
“Ah Matsumoto-kun it’s nice to see you're awake. I’m Ohno Satoshi, the school nurse, now tell me how do you feel? You gave us all a shock fainting like that.”
“My head hurts like crazy but other than that I feel fine.” Ohno came closer, placing his hand on his forehead. “No fever, but I don’t think you're in any position to go back to class at this point. You were out for two hours so just until the end of this period I’ll keep you under observation.”
“Sorry about those two, they're always bickering when they see each other, they’ve always been like that. It probably didn’t help your headache, did it? Although you’ve definitely been awake longer than you're letting on, weren’t you?” Jun let out a grumble, they definitely made it worse. His face was all Ohno needed to confirm it. It’s not like he was in the wrong, he simply choose to go back to sleep.
“If anything, I feel bad for you, from what I heard you’ve been dealing with them both since they were young. I wasn’t even listening to them for five minutes and I was already sick of it. It's nice you're close to them, Nino especially.” Ohno choked on his spit in surprise, he was such a cheeky brat.
“You heard all that huh? I like Nino, have for a long while. I’m unsure about his feelings, Nino is a tease and there are times where I can’t tell when he’s being serious or not. I’m going to wait until graduation before I say anything because I’m still technically his teacher, even if I’m only the school nurse.” Ohno smiled sadly. He didn’t know Nino very well- well he did but no one knows that- but he didn’t think he was the type to lead people on. He saw the way they looked at each other, they were both hopelessly in love with each other.
“You definitely don’t give Ninomiya-kun enough credit. Talk to him, but remember to be careful, you're still a teacher. Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone” Jun closed his eyes leaving Ohno to his thoughts.

A month had passed since the incident, people were quick to stare but also quick to forget. Most people shrugged it off as him being to overwhelmed, which he was just not in the way people thought.
His memories came back in pieces, now he could put names to faces. It was still quite overwhelming but he was taking it a day at a time. Sakurai and Nino’s faces came up often in his dreams. He hadn't quite figured out what his relationship was with Sakurai, he had a hunch but those memories were unclear. Nino though he had been close to him then and now. Others had turned up to, he was close to Kamenashi as much as he was with Nino. He’d also had wondered if anyone else had these memories.
He'd been avoiding a certain student council president since all those memories flooded his head. If Jun's hunch was correct, and he and Sho were a couple in that life, it would make it extremely awkward to even look at Sho. But he couldn't blame his past self, because Sho was both beautiful and adorable.” Jun had a not so small crush on the man, he was happy Nino hadn’t noticed he would never hear the end of it.
He had grown close to Nino and met Aiba in the process. He was a very bright man, reminded Jun of the sun at times. He also met his Aiba's “cute kohai” Inoo, he was quite interesting to say the least.
Only a month in and he already found himself in the teacher's office. He was in a meeting with Kato-sensei and Koyama-sensei about his grades.
“I just don’t understand, your grades are fine in everything except maths.” Kato-sensei rubbed his head trying to wrap his head around this.
“Maths has never been my strong suit, I’ve always struggled with it.” Koyama nodded his head in understanding.
“That’s why we're going to have someone who’s good at maths to help tutor you, in fact, Sakurai-kun himself has volunteered to help you!” Jun felt panic rise inside him, he’d done his utmost best to avoid him and now he was his tutor. Seeing as he volunteered he couldn’t really refuse the offer.
“Alright, fine, I’ll agree to tutoring with Sakurai-kun.”
“Great! Sakurai-kun will come to you to speak to you about it later in the day.” Jun left the room leaving Koyama and Kato to themselves.
“I worry about him, Shige.” Koyama laid his head down on Kato's shoulder to snuggle closer.
“You worry about everyone, Keichan. You should worry about yourself more or our kids. I got another phone call from Yuya and Taka’s teacher, Taka was being picked on and Yuya decided to hit him those picking on him. You know how protective he gets of Taka.” Koyama groaned.
“Can you go in and talk to them this time? Their teacher scares me.” Kato snorted in amusement, Nagase may look scary but he’s just a giant teddy bear. The things he did for his husband.
-
True to his words Sakurai did confront him later, in the middle of lunch. Nino shot him a smirk, that little brat knew what was going on. He always did.
“Sorry to call you out at lunch but this is the only time I had to talk to you. I’m quite busy usually with student council stuff, but I’m free after school on Thursdays and Fridays if that’s good for you?”
“I’m not the one with after school commitments, mr president~ those days are good for me. We could go to my place? I live alone so we won’t be disturbed.” Sho thought about it before nodding in agreement.
“Ok that sounds good, I’ll see you tomorrow after school.” With that Sho walked off into the distance. Why did he volunteer his place? This was not going to end well at all.
“Soooo what’s with you and sho-chan, J?” Jun jumped and rolled his eyes, leave it to Nino to appear out of nowhere.
“The teachers were worried about my grades for maths because they were significantly worse than all my other subjects so they got Sakurai-kun to volunteer to tutor me.” Nino smirked in amusement, this was an interesting development.
“Wow mr smarty pants is failing maths, that’s a surprise! I’m very curious about the fact you invited him over to your place, I haven’t even seen your place yet.” Jun raised an eyebrow, was Nino jealous over the fact he invited Sakurai before him? He smirked. Even Nino could be cute sometimes.
“If you wanted to come over so bad you should have said something. Do you want to come over tonight? Will that make you feel better?” Whatever Nino was expecting it wasn’t that. Jun really enjoyed the shocked look on his face.
“Fine! Since you so kindly offered.” Nino stormed off back into the classroom leaving Jun with a smirk on his face.
-
That was the first time Jun and Nino were alone together just the two of them, it was strange to say the least. They were both lazing around on the floor, half watching the tv.
“Hey Jun-kun can I ask you I question?” Jun turned his body to face Nino, frowning, not sure where that would go.
“Sure, ask away.”
“Do you believe in reincarnation? Now don’t look at me like that, I’m being serious here.” Could Nino know…? No that wasn’t possible… maybe Nino had those memories to...? Jun choose to stay silent until Nino said more.
“Ever since I could remember, I’ve always had these memories that could not have been mine, I mean really, I think I would remember if I was a samurai. I thought it was just my imagination until I met Oh-chan and Sho-chan. They were in those memories before I met them, I thought long and hard about it and there’s no way it could just have been my imagination.” It couldn’t be possible, could it? These dreams Jun had, could they be memories of a past life…?
“I’d like to say something too. I’ve had dreams ever since I was a kid, but they weren’t very clear until I came here but I had them. I always thought about it but I never would have thought they were memories ever, not until I met... You know the day I collapsed at school? The night before I had a dream and it still haunts me. Sakurai-kun was there and he was above me just repeating sorry over and over. And then when I saw him the next day everything came rushing to me. It was so overwhelming I just passed out.” Nino had moved closer, laying face to face with him. He had a reassuring smile on his face but his eyes showed signs of relief. He guessed Nino was glad Jun didn’t see him as crazy.
“Then when you said my name that day, it was because you..?” Jun nodded. “Ahh this makes me so happy knowing I’m not the only one. I haven’t really talked to anyone about this before. Do you think our memories could be from the same time? I know you have appeared in my memories, we were close. I was your right hand man along with Kamenashi who weirdly is our teacher now…” so it was Kamenashi-sensei, his hair was so different to what he remembered he almost thought they might have been different people.
“My memories aren’t as clear as yours but I do know we were close, you were my best friend along with Kame. You two were always there for me throughout everything, when my mother was murdered, when my father was being too harsh. Ever since I was a kid. Do you think anyone else remembers…?” It’s definitely a possibility, if Nino remembered as well then there must be others…
“I wouldn’t be surprised if there was, I would like to find out if anyone else remembers not just us. It would seem kinda pointless to remember our past lives and not have anyone remember with you, that would be kinda sad.” Jun let out a laugh, that would definitely be a sad fate. “I think I should get going before Oh-chan gets worried, he nags when I’m out to late even when I tell him. Also tomorrow is your infamous date with Sho-chan!!” Even though Nino was complaining he had a fond smile on his face. He decided to ignore Nino's last comment about Sakurai-kun.
“It just shows he cares, doesn’t he? Go home to your boyfriend already!” Nino's face turned bright red, startled by Jun's words.
“He’s not my boyfriend! He doesn’t see me that way…” ahh they were both so similar like that, even back then they were both in denial.
“Uhuh, sure he doesn’t feel the same way. Talk to him about it I think you’d be surprised!” Jun led Nino outside, waving him on his way. Their talk left Jun feeling better about his current situation, everything was more clear now. He had a better understanding on what his memories meant. It was nice knowing he wasn’t crazy and that he wasn’t the only one.
-
Today was the day of, as Nino put it, his infamous date with Sakurai-kun. Jun was standing outside the school waiting for Sakurai-kun to finish so they could leave. He looked up at the sky, dark clouds were forming. It was going to rain….
He thought back to the dream he had the previous night about Sakurai-kun, the same one as the day the before he meet him. This time it was more clear. He still didn’t understand it, Sakurai-kun was above him crying and apologizing...? Past Jun lifted his hand to his face and told him he forgave him? There was blood on past Jun's hand too… it couldn’t be, could that be how he died? Considering the time period he must have been stabbed? That might explain the birthmark on his stomach. How did those circumstances come to be? He had so many questions and no answers because his damn memories were such a mess and only came back a little at time.
“Matsumoto-kun?” His thought trail was interrupted by the person he was just thinking about.
“Ah Sakurai-kun? Are you finished?” He nodded with a bright smile on his face. Cute. Jun felt his heart pound faster, he was still weak for Sakurai-kun's smile. “Alright let's go.” It was a silent trip back to his place, he wasn’t sure what to talk to him about. This Sakurai-kun was different to his Sakurai-kun, yet the same somehow.
When they arrived Sakurai-kun got straight down to business, Jun had never seen such a serious side to him. But one thing Jun could say was that he was a very good tutor, he was patient and understanding. As they studied, the pelting of the rain could be heard in the background. Time passed quickly, it was so late Sakurai-kun had missed the last train. Add the fact it was pouring with rain outside.
“Sakurai-kun it’s late… I think we should stop for the night.” Sakurai looked at his watch just realizing what time it was.
“Where did the time go? I’ve missed the last train too… what am I going to do?” There wasn’t much he could do, it was raining and the trains weren’t running anymore.
“You could stay here…? I don’t live far from school either…” Sho looked at Jun in surprise, He considered the option. It wouldn’t be so bad to stay over.
“Alright, I’ll take you up on your offer! Do you mind if I have a shower? It’s been a long day and I’d like to freshen up before bed.” Jun nodded, he went to his cupboard and grabbed some clothes for Sakurai to use, picking out a pair of red boxers.
“You could put these on, they should fit. If you give me the clothes you're wearing I can have them washed for the morning.” He thanked Jun handing his clothes over through the door.
Jun sat down on his bed, the realization of what was going on finally hitting him. Sakurai Sho was staying there for the night, what had he volunteered? How was he going to sleep? He could barely be around him without his heart pounding like crazy. But this was an opportunity to get to know this Sakurai-kun.
“Thank you for letting me stay the night, I really hope I’m not inconveniencing you.” Jun looked up, Sakurai was in front of him in nothing but Jun's pants. His hair still dripping from the shower, Jun was inwardly drowning. Sakurai had a beautiful toned chest with amazingly defined muscles. He couldn’t look away. He could feel his dick twitching in his pants, definitely excited at the sight of Sho. This was not the time to be turned on, Jun reminded himself
“Matsumoto-kun if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were staring, do you like what you see?” Sho threw Jun a cheeky smirk. He was left speechless, his cheeks so red they could rival Sho's boxers. The blood wasn’t just running to his face. If Jun didn’t know any better he’d think was Sakurai flirting with him.
“I don’t know what you're talking about! You can sleep on the bed, I’ll be taking the couch.” Sakurai was quick to protest, his pride could not allow him to see Jun sleep on the couch.
“I can't allow that! I’m troubling you by staying here so abruptly! I’ll sleep on the couch, you can sleep in your bed!” Sho didn’t understand why Jun had to be so stubborn.
“You're a guest I can’t let you sleep on the couch!”
“Why don’t we just sleep in the same bed then? It’s big enough for two isn’t it?” Jun froze in his tracks, the words dying in his mouth. Had Sakurai-kun really suggested that? To prove he wasn’t joking, Sho hopped into bed holding the covers open, motioning for Jun to join him. Jun didn’t know what to say or do, he didn’t think he even had the courage to share a bed with Sakurai-kun.
“Well are you going to join me or not? I don’t bite I promise!” Jun reluctantly gave in and hopped into bed with him. It was so awkward, sleeping in the same bed as Sakurai-kun. He needed to calm his heart rate before it burst.
Jun could not sleep, having Sho next to him just kept weighing on his mind. Wait, when had he started calling him Sho? He was Sakurai. Anyway the fact the man was half naked, Jun could barely control himself. He saw how beautiful of a body Sho had before and all he wanted to do now was touch it.
Sho looked so peaceful asleep, Jun leaned over and began to stroke his face. Sakurai snuggled into his hand, Jun could feel the blood rush to his face, he was not expecting that. Sakurai must be testing Jun's self control because Jun was just holding himself back.
He had such a cute face, he reminded Jun of a chipmunk with those round chubby cheeks, he wanted to squeeze them. Giving into temptation he gave them a squeeze, they were so squishy and soft. Jun moved his hands down to Sho's lips, rubbing his thumb over them. They were hard and cracked, Jun frowned, Sho needed to take better care of them especially now that it was winter. Jun wanted to kiss those lips, just to test of course. He leaned forward and placed a quick peck on them. They were nice to kiss, well better than nice but it would be better if Sho was kissing him back. Not like that was going to happen anytime soon. Jun roller over and shut his eyes hoping sleep would overcome him.
Well he did until he heard a noise, it sounded like a sob. He opened his eyes confused, looking over to Sho who was shaking. Was he cold? No. Was he the one crying?
“I’m sorry…” Jun frowned confused about who Sho was apologizing to. “I couldn’t save you I’m sorry...” he was even more confused now, what was Sho going on about? Maybe it was a nightmare? Jun certainly had his share of them. “Jun-kun I’m sorry” Jun froze, Sho was apologizing to him…? Must be a nightmare. He leaned over shaking him awake.
“Sho-kun, it’s just a nightmare it’s ok” Sho looked up, bursting into tears at the sight of Jun's face then pulling him into a tight embrace. It was strange but Jun decided he would ask questions in the morning, for the moment he'd comfort Sho to the best of his ability. Jun began stroking his head and reassuring him everything was okay until he calmed down. He was so vulnerable in his arms.
-
Sho woke up face to face with Jun, embraced in the other man's arms. Memories of the previous night flashing in his mind. He was so embarrassed that Jun saw him like that, and the fact he had a dream of that memory. He wondered if it was because he was with Jun.
Sho looked up at Jun, he hadn’t really had the chance to see Jun's face so close until that moment, it had been a long time. His long lashes and all those beautiful moles. Sho was able to tell where every single one of Jun's moles were like the back of his hand. If his memories weren’t failing him all of them were the same as they were all those years ago. Sho leaned forward to stroke the side of his face, his hand trailed down to Jun's parted lips. His peach colored lips looked so kissable, Sho leaned down placing a small peck on them. He really missed Jun but he knew unless he had his memories Sho would have to learn to love this Jun.
Most the time he really hated his memories, nothing good had came out of them. All they brought him was confusion and regret. He couldn't even talk to anyone about it, sometimes he thought he might have been going crazy. But somehow deep down Sho knew they were real, too real. He hoped he wasn’t the only one, he couldn’t be the only person to remember, right?
Sho sighed in defeat, he needed time to think about Jun and what he was going to do about his feelings. He smoothly slipped out of Jun's arms careful not to wake him. He had done his best to get close to Jun, even sleeping in the same bed as him -he was very proud of himself for that- but then he had to have that goddamn memory that’s always haunting him.
Sho was quick to get dressed and walk out and just run away. He knew it was rude of him to just leave Jun like that but it’s not like they did anything together. He just slept over and helped him study, that was it. God he was going to be back there that afternoon helping him study… maybe he could say something-no that would be rude and unfair on Jun.
“Sho-chan? This is a surprise, you're here early!” He had run so fast he hadn’t even realized he was at school. In front of him were Nino and Aiba sticking very close to each other. That was unusual but Sho decided not to say anything waving it off as them being them.
“Good morning, I have some student council stuff to work on so I decided to come in early, what about you two? Nino you yourself don’t usually get here till the first bell rings.” Both Nino and Aiba looked at each other then at Sho then back at themselves, not suspicious at all. Sho rolled his eyes, somehow not knowing would be the better option at this point. They were probably up to mischief, those two were certainly known for it.
“It’s fine if you want to keep it to yourself, I just hope you aren’t doing anything dangerous or stupid. We don’t need another incident like in first year. Remember who had to clean up the mess.” That was something no one wanted a repeat of, Sho especially. He didn't think he could prevent Nino and Aiba from being expelled like he did last time.
“Wait weren’t you with Jun-chan last night? How was your date~” sometimes Nino knew right where his weak points were, always pushing his buttons. The previous night was the last thing he wanted to talk about.
“Last night was fine. Ok? We studied, it got late, I had to stay the night because of that. I left early to do student council stuff.” Sho was quick to run but Aiba was there to stop him in his tracks, damn he was fast.
“Ah but it’s Friday and student council doesn’t run on Fridays, in fact you and I both know there is no more work because I as your vice-president made sure it was all done yesterday. So tell me why are you running from Jun, Sho-chan~” damn Nino and his bratty attitude, always getting what he wanted. Sho reluctantly gave in because he knew Nino would not give up.
“Fine I’ll tell you but I'd rather do it in a more private place. Sho led the two to the student council room, he really needed to get this off his chest and who better than Nino and Aiba and were great at knowing everything about everyone. He just hoped that they didn’t see him as crazy after this.
Sho was ready to unlock the door when he noticed it was already open, he frowned, that was unusual. He was pretty sure he locked it the previous night, plus the only ones with keys were him and the janitor and he doubted he would have come in after the school closed or that morning. Sho got close to the door listening to see if anyone was in there. Rustling and moans, Sho had a really bad feeling about what was going on in that room.
Aiba and Nino were getting restless, what was taking Sho so long? Why was he just standing by the door? They moved closer to Sho to the point they were both on him, Sho lost his balance and they all tumbled into the room.
In front of them was a very naked Kamenashi underneath a half naked Yamashita. Sho was going to have nightmares for months, he would never been able to unsee. Kamenashi-sensei looked like he had just had a heart-attack. He averted his eyes away from the sight in front of him, choosing to look at Aiba and Nino who both looked like they’d seen the end of the world instead. He couldn’t blame them, this was probably worse than the end of the world. Catching his two teachers having sex on the student council table- oh god what if this wasn’t the first time… Sho felt sick just thinking about it. Both teachers rapidly scrambled apart, dressing themselves as quickly as possible
“Umm you didn’t see anything ok? Just erase everything you just saw from your mind and we will both talk to you about this situation later ok?” Kamenashi-sensei let out before scurrying out the door, red in embarrassment. Yamashita-sensei was not far behind leaving them all to deal with the shock of what they just witnessed.
“I think I need to clear my head of everything I just saw, let’s regroup at lunch and talk about Sho-chan and Jun's date from last night.” With that Aiba left the room. Nino scooted closer to Sho, making it easier to talk to him.
“Hey Sho-chan, do you believe in reincarnation?” What...? Sho's eyes widen in surprise. Did he hear correctly, did Nino just ask what he think he’d just heard? He was conflicted on what to do, should he deny it and tell Nino he doesn’t believe in it or spill the beans? Sho opened his mouth ready to say something but Nino interrupted him. “Jun told me about last night, he texted me because he was unsure on what to do. Because you and I both know that dream you had wasn’t just a dream.” He couldn’t believe he wasn’t the only one who remembered, it was such a relief. He wasn’t alone
“Nino, I don’t even know what to say. No that dream wasn’t just a dream, it was a memory. A memory I'd rather forget honestly. I hadn’t dreamed of it in ages but as soon as I slept with Jun everything came back to me.” Somehow he wasn’t surprised Jun had talked to Nino, he was always so closed off and reserved around everyone except Nino. He knew there was nothing to worry over between the two but despite that he was jealous of the bond they had.
“Wait hold up, you slept with him? Now that’s an interesting piece of information that Jun hadn’t told me!” Realizing the weight of his words his face become as bright as a tomato’s.
“It’s not like that!! We just slept in the same bed that’s all, nothing like what your dirty mind is coming up with! I’m not you.” They had slept in each other's arms but Sho was going to leave that detail out, not wanting to be teased anymore than he already was. Nino smirked in amusement, clearly enjoying himself.
“I’ll have you know Ohno and I have not slept together, despite me waiting to. He wants to wait till I’m graduated. But that hasn’t stopped me and Aiba… of course that’s a story for another time. Back to you and Jun. I think you need to know that Jun remembers, not everything like me but most things… now I don’t know about you but I have a hunch you know more than you're letting on.”
Sho took a moment to process that, Jun remembered? Not everything but most things. Oh my, Sho didn’t know whether to shout for joy or fear he remembered that night. The night where Jun died in his arms, he never forgave himself for it.
“I remember everything, from the day I was born till the day I died. Sometimes it feels like these memories are more a curse than anything. I don’t remember exactly when I got my memories of my previous life but I was young. For years I thought I was crazy, I even talked to a psychologist but that just made me feel stupid. It was when the dreams started becoming more vivid as the years went by I realized that they were memories.” The biggest relief for Sho was knowing he wasn’t going mad.
“I know how that feels, finding out Jun remembered too made me so happy. Now knowing you do as well it’s such a relief. I never had anyone to talk to about this, I always feared that if I told you or Oh-chan was you’d look at me differently. But now I regret not saying anything to you sooner. It must have been even harder for you with how your family was. Always had to be perfect and nothing else, there were times I wanted to punch your dad in the face. Then and now.” He understood how Nino felt because he was brought up not to show emotions by his good old family, still the same as back then. Had to be the perfect son or otherwise there were consequences. In his last life his father was a high class samurai and well his mother who was forced in her marriage resented all of her children. He could never tell anyone anything without fear his parents would find out.
“I’m unsure on how to go about this, there are many things I did I’m not proud of in the other life. In particular about Jun's death. You said he doesn’t remember everything, do you know if he remembers if we were ever in a relationship or of the events that occurred on the night he died?” Would Jun resent him for it he wondered, back then Jun was always there for him. He never hated or resented the things he did in the name of his family, Sho certainly did but he wondered if Jun would feel the same way if he knew how he died.
“I know I certainly remember what you did but the past is the past. It was over 1000 years ago if my memories serve correctly. You have to stop blaming yourself for Jun's death it wasn’t your fault you know? Plus he’s alive in the flesh now, isn’t he? That should be enough for you. It’s certainly is for me. As for Jun's memories I think you should ask him that yourself. Isn’t that right Jun-kun?” Sho turned his head and there was Jun leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed, not looking very happy at all.
-
Jun's eyes fluttered open to the bright sun glaring into his eyes, he must have forgotten to close the curtains again. Jun roller over expecting to find Sho but instead found the other side of the bed empty and cold. Jun sat up and looked around, there was no sign of him. His uniform and bag both gone, he had left without saying anything… Jun's heart sunk, was it because of the dream Sho had last night?
He sighed a little disappointed that he had just left like that. Maybe he was embarrassed about having a nightmare in front of him? That didn’t sound like the Sho he knew. He sat up running a hand through his hair, this was such a mess. His feelings for Sho… he liked this Sho a lot and he wanted to get closer and possibly date him. He hoped his feelings for the past Sho wouldn’t get in the way even though somehow they were the same person.
He was going to talk to Sho about everything because if he guessed correctly that dream Sho had last night was the same one Jun had the night before he meet Sho. He just wished he could remember what happened instead of just Sho crying over him.
The whole trip to school he was contemplating how he was going to talk to Sho, should he straight up ask or should he lead up to it? Jun sighed, maybe it’ll be better once he actually starts talking to him.
He was so lost in his thoughts he didn’t realize right in front of him was Aiba until they both ran into each other. Jun fell to the ground rubbing his back in pain, that had hurt. He looked up and noticed Aiba on the floor in front of him also rubbing his back, it seemed Aiba was lost in thought as he was to have run into him.
“Sorry I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going, are you ok?” Jun got up first, then went over to help Aiba up.
“I wasn’t either so let’s just call it even. No no I’m fine, I should be asking you that anyway.”
“By any chance have you seen Sho? I need to talk to him.” Aiba seemed to have been expecting the question, he knew exactly where the said man was. Aiba was a lot faster than he looked, by the time he caught up Aiba had stopped and looked to be listening in. Jun got closer and was able to make out what they were saying. It was Nino and Sho?
“It’s not like that!! We just slept in the same bed that’s all, nothing like what your dirty mind is coming up with! I’m not you.” Were they taking about the night before? Leave it to Nino to think of the dirty side of things.
“I’ll have you know Ohno and I have not slept together, despite me waiting to. He wants to wait till I’m graduated. But that hasn’t stopped me and Aiba… of course that’s a story for another time. Back to you and Jun. I think you need to know that Jun remembers, not everything like me but most things… now I don’t know about you but I have a hunch you know more than your letting on.” Jun was somehow glad to know Ohno was the responsible type.
He looked over at Aiba and raised an eyebrow, he really wondered what the relationship was between them. Ohno wanted to wait until graduation but Aiba and Nino seemed to have other plans with each other… could they be having an affair? No they both were definitely not the type. He could vaguely remember there relationship back then, hmm he he’d have to ask Nino about it later.
“I remember everything, from the day I was born till the day I died. Sometimes it feels like these memories are more a curse than anything. I don’t remember exactly when I got my memories of my previous life but I was young. For years I thought I was crazy, I even talked to a psychologist but that just made me feel stupid. It was when the dreams started becoming more vivid as the years went by I realized that they were memories.” Sho remembered too…? Jun felt a huge relief at that, maybe it was possible for them to be a couple again, after all. That meant the dream Sho was having the previous night was a memory, something Sho knew more about than he did.
“I know how that feels, finding out Jun remembered too made me so happy. Now knowing you remember it’s such a relief. Then and now.” Jun frowned not liking the sound of Sho's family. Jun stopped for a moment finally realizing Aiba was listening in to. He just remembered Aiba was there, He looked over to the man who was in shock. Aiba was on the verge of tears, it was such shock knowing three of the people closest to him remembered everything. He needed time to process this and deal with this sudden knowledge.
“Jun-kun do me a favor and don’t tell Nino or anyone I was here, keep it to yourself for now ok?” Jun disapproved of Aiba keeping this to himself but decided to keep it to himself respecting the man’s wish.
“I’m unsure on how to go about this, there are many things I did I’m not proud of in the other life. In particular about Jun's death. You said he doesn’t remember everything, do you know if he remembers if we were ever in a relationship or of the events that occurred on the night he died?” So Sho did remember, Nino seemed to have a clear idea too. Was he the only one who didn’t know?
“I know I certainly remember what you did but the past is the past. It was over a 1000 years ago if my memories serve correctly. You have to stop blaming yourself for Jun's death it wasn’t your fault you know? Plus he’s alive in the flesh now, isn’t he? That should be enough for you. It’s certainly is for me. As for Jun's memories I think you should ask him that yourself. Isn’t that right Jun-kun?” Jun moved to the doorway, in full view of Nino and Sho.
“Sho, such a lovely surprise, I think you and I need to have a nice long talk about many things.” Jun wasn’t angry, just upset. He wished Sho would be more open about these things. Before Sho could say anything the bell rang, he used that as an escape quickly running out the door while Jun was distracted. That sneaky little...! He’d have to confront him after lunch if he didn’t run away again.
-
Jun had no luck at lunch, spending half of it trying to find even a glimpse of Sho turned uneventful. He eventually gave up knowing he could confront him after school because of there tutoring session. Even if Sho was avoiding him he always lived up to his promises and responsibilities. He had recruited Nino to help him catch Sho as well hoping he really didn’t run again.
He was standing outside the gate, the only way in and out of school. All the other students had since left, he had a feeling Sho was delaying this as much as possible. Finally there he was, scuffling behind Nino who had gone to find the man after deciding he had been waiting to long.
“I brought your boyfriend, now I’m going home to mine. Sho-chan if you try to run again I will find you and bring you back. That is a promise.” Jun watched Nino walk off into the distance, he could be scary when he wanted to be.
“Sho-kun lets go.” The ride to Jun's apartment was quiet and awkward, the air around them heavy and tense. Onlookers felt they could probably cut the air with a knife it was that unpleasant. Both were unsure of what do say or do, both deciding it was best to remain silent.
It didn’t get any better by time the reached home, both sitting on the floor in front of each other but refusing to look each other in the eyes. Both were afraid of what the other might say.
“I’m sorry for running, I needed time to think about stuff…”
“Will you stop apologizing? It’s getting a little annoying. Look I understand you needed to think but waking up to find you not there this morning kinda hurt you know? Will you at least tell me why you ran away?”
“I was scared of everything about us, what you would think of me. I ran away last night because of the dream I had, you saw me in a vulnerable state I didn’t want you to see me in, and I thought you would judge me. I ran this morning because finding out you remembered too was such a big thing, I was overwhelmed and scared that you would hate me because of the things I did in the past.” Jun sighed, he could blame Sho really but sometimes he was a little stupid.
“Sho-kun you're an idiot you know that! Why would I ever judge you, you're so important to me and I was worried about you. Your nightmare was a memory that I don’t remember vividly but I know what events it was and it was then I thought you may have remembered our past lives. But then you ran and I didn’t know what to think, I was afraid that dream might have scared you away and you didn’t know what it meant. I went to school with the intent of talking to you but then I overheard your conversation with Nino and everything became clear. It made me happy you remembered because I missed you, I missed us.” Tears were threatening to spill out of Jun's eyes, Sho felt extremely guilty now. He moved over to Jun pulling him into a hard hug. He buried his head in Sho's shoulder.
“I missed you too, ever since you came to this school I had always watched you with the hope that you remembered and we could be together again. Even if you didn’t remember I had the goal of wanting to get close to you hoping it would end in us together. That memory I dreamed of last night, you don’t remember it?” Jun shook his head.
“That night was the night you died in my arms, my father wasn’t happy with our relationship once he found out. He had a horrible grudge against your family, never found out why. At first when he found out he just told me to break up with you or he’d kill you. Soon after I ended our relationship, which broke my heart but I could see anything happen to you. A week later Aiba came to me telling me he’d overheard my father ordering to have you killed for “poisoning” my mind. By time I found out it was too late, I tried to stop them but you had already been stabbed. You bled to death in my arms, all I could say was I was sorry. Nino was there with me when you died.” Sho had to stop, barely able to get his words out. Despite it happening so long ago the memories still felt so fresh. “I couldn’t live without you, it was to hard. I committed suicide not long after. The events following you’d have to ask Nino about because I have no idea.”
Jun didn’t know what to say, he had memories of him and Sho happy but no memories of their break up. There were times where he assumed it was after they had broken up and he was miserable but his memories still had blanks. He guessed he would have to ask about something.
“I’m so sorry you were ever put in that position, but you have to know it isn’t your fault I died ok? Not one bit, I don’t even blame you. Your father was a horrible man, you couldn’t have known he would kill me. I’ll let you on a little secret, before I meet you I always had dreams of you. Of course I didn’t know it was you at the time but I realized recently that they were memories of us, the happy times we had. Then the day I saw you in assembly, everything came rushing back to me. As you saw I was so overwhelmed I fainted but even now I still have blanks so I’m going to rely on you.” Sho was crying now and Jun could feel his tears running down his cheeks. This talk was making him emotional, they were happy tears not sad tears. They were together now and nothing could keep them apart.
Jun had moved them to the bed, finding it would be more comfortable than the hard floor. Laying in each other arms was providing the long need serenity that was well overdue.
“Jun-kun can I kiss you? I’ve kinda been waiting to do it for a while now-“ Sho was cut off by Jun's soft lips on his own. Not expecting it but definitely not complaining, Sho melted into the kiss. Jun pulled away first, he smiled brightly at Sho. He couldn’t hold back anymore pulling Jun into a deep kiss. Jun gave in letting Sho have his way with him.

Date: 2018-04-19 11:45 am (UTC)I wasn't expecting a reincarnation AU, and that made things even better (I like to be surprised in that way)
Sakumoto is one of my ultimate OTPs, but you also included other OTPs of mine, and that killed me (in a good way ofc XD)
I love how there was progress with the relationships between the present characters, as well as a certain evolution that made them confident enough to talk about their past lives with each other
And Jun letting Sho have his way with him in the end.... I LIKE WHERE THIS IS GOING ;) ;)
I really loved this fic, and you've made me a happy fangirl <3
